Overview
The NomadiQ BBQ is a portable propane grill that actually delivers on the promise of “real BBQ anywhere.” The clamshell folding design is clever, the build quality is premium, and most importantly — it cooks like a proper grill, not a glorified camp toaster.
Key Features
- Clamshell fold design — Packs down to roughly the size of a briefcase
- Two independent burners — 9,200 BTU total with zone control
- 1,460 cm² grilling surface — Room for serious cooking
- Cast aluminum construction — Durable, even heat distribution
- Only 12.5 lbs (5.6 kg) — Portable enough to actually bring
- Included shoulder strap — Carry it like a bag
Real-World Performance
This is genuinely one of our favorite BBQs, period — portable or not. The dual burners give you real temperature control, so you can sear on one side and keep things warm on the other. The cast aluminum body distributes heat evenly, eliminating the hot spots that plague cheap portable grills.
Setup is dead simple: unfold, connect the propane hose, and you’re grilling in under a minute. The grill grates are substantial and leave proper grill marks. Cleanup is straightforward with the removable drip tray.
Considerations
- Premium price point (worth it, but not cheap)
- Carrying pouch sold separately
- No lid means some cooking styles are trickier
- Fuel hose storage could be more elegant
Best For
- Camping and overlanding
- Beach and park BBQs
- Tailgating
- Balcony grilling where space is tight
- Travel — it fits in luggage
Verdict
Without question, this is our favorite BBQ we’ve ever used. The combination of portability, build quality, and actual cooking performance is unmatched. Yes, it’s an investment, but if you love grilling and hate being stuck at home to do it, the NomadiQ BBQ is the answer.
