Pipers Lagoon Park is in north Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The park sits on a peninsula in Hammond Bay, with sheltered lagoon water on one side and exposed shoreline on the other.
From downtown Nanaimo, drive north on Highway 19A (Island Highway). Turn onto Hammond Bay Road, then onto Doktor Drive and follow it to the park entrance.
Yes. Free parking is available at the main lot by the entrance. It can be busy on warm weekends.
Plan for 1–2 hours to walk the loop and explore viewpoints and tide pools. You can stay longer if you are photographing or wildlife watching.
The park is great year-round. Low tide is best for tide pools and beach walking. Summer is best for longer evening light. Winter storms can be dramatic from safe viewpoints.
