Our family trip to Vancouver Island’s West Coast to celebrate Zosia’s second birthday was a heartfelt reminder of why we cherish experiences over material things. Surrounded by the enchanting beauty of the Pacific Northwest, this journey was all about joy, togetherness, and creating lasting memories for our family.
Preparing for the trip, despite the usual packing hassles, was essential to making it special. We focused on Zosia’s favorite activities—playing on the beach, enjoying bubbles, and having a special birthday cake. Staying at Water’s Edge Resort, she was thrilled with a private hot tub bubble bath. Capturing these moments was key, from a charming photoshoot with her little green suitcase to her infectious laughter amidst floating bubbles on the beach.
Our adventure began with a road trip to Ucluelet, where we balanced exploration and relaxation. We visited playgrounds, took stunning drone shots of the coast, and enjoyed peaceful moments along the Pacific Coast Trail. Continuing our tradition of “Flying Photos” added to our collection of cherished memories and highlighted the adventurous spirit we want to share with Zosia.
The birthday celebration itself was magical. We explored the vast sandy stretches of Florencia Bay, discovering sea creatures and splashing through puddles. The highlight was unveiling Zosia’s vibrant rainbow mountain cake on the beach, capturing her pure delight. Sharing that moment on the beach, with her eyes lighting up and exclaiming, “Jest Piekne!” (It’s Beautiful!), filled our hearts with so much joy. The day wrapped up with a breathtaking sunset, perfectly ending a memorable celebration.
On our final day, we enjoyed coffee in Tofino and leisurely explored local shops. Zosia’s encounter with a skateboarder and playful moments at the skatepark added to the fun. Before heading home, we enjoyed delicious tacos and watched Zosia nap peacefully, exhausted but happy from all her adventures. Our last stop, the Hole in the Wall hike in Port Alberni, where Zosia’s fascination with rocks and waterfalls, capped off our trip on a magical note. This journey reminded us of the importance of shared experiences and the lasting joy they bring to our family.
