Always maintain a safe distance from marine mammals and birds. Use binoculars or a zoom lens - if wildlife changes behavior, you're too close
Drones can disturb wildlife and are restricted or prohibited in many areas along the coast. Know the rules before you fly - violations carry serious fines
Stay off eelgrass, kelp, and seaweed near the water's edge. These areas are often covered in herring eggs and are easily damaged underfoot
